Oh Books, Of Thee I Sing

Daily Draw: Ship Of Fools Tarot ~ Pope/Hierophant

We think of the world changed dramatically as computers became commonplace. The world really changed following the invention of the printing press in 1450. When the Narrenschiff was published in 1494 education was still pretty much what the church wanted you to know. By 1550 the Reformation was well under way and someone that really wanted to learn and get an education had options. This image addresses the fright in the Roman church when the Ottoman empire with knowledge beyond the church began to spread.

I'm reminded by this card there are a lot of different Truths. The powerful have always preferred to the keep the general populace in the dark beyond their version of their truth. The real power of the internet is our ability to see all the truths and choose for ourself. That is Power.

From the Narrenschiff: Of the Decline of the Faith
"I implore you all,
gentlemen small and great
Think of the fate of the common weal,
And how it grants me alone the dunces' cap." ~ Sebastian Brant 1494
