Crossing The Line

Daily Draw: Shaman's Oracle ~ Spirit of Healing

I watched a youtube program yesterday debating whether our President Lincoln's wife Mary was crazy or not. She was declared so in court but science and medicine is further advanced now, there isn't any such thing as Crazy. Just conditions which can mostly be helped with therapy and or medicine if the subject is willing.

In most states at the time (1875) all it took to be carted off as crazy was a man deemed of good character to say it was so. Illinois required a court trial so Mary's character and personality went on display for all, but also became part of written history and capable of being analyzed today. I'm reminded by this card there was a time a few years ago when I would have been the poor soul locked in the barn so the stigma of crazy didn't fall on the rest of the family.  Have we come a long way baby? I think so.

"The Edge... There is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over." ~ Hunter S. Thompson 1937-2005

  1. Egads, I can't imagine anyone with a spouse as president (especially during the Civil War) not being off-kilter. Especially when you witness him assassinated.

    1. oh yes, as long as you don't mind the goat and hens and rooster! If we are all crazy, it is the sane ones left out of the fun?
