Free Meat

Daily Draw: Tarot of the Origins ~ 8 of Swords/Blood

A scream of triumph, the deed is done, the kill achieved.

My going huntin' rifle is a 44 carbine. Chosen because it is short and light. Short because so am I. We haven't hunted in more than twenty years. The game is the same, it is the people who hunt who have changed. And there is no such thing as free meat.

Early to bed.
Early to rise.
Hunt all day.
Make up lies

  1. This deck of yours this week seems a bit dark and disturbing. Guess they make us look at things a bit differently and that is what our quest is about, isn't it? I never have owned a gun and the only hunting I do now is an occasional yard sale, or deep discounts at Kolhs.

    1. it is a bit of a dark horse isn't it? It was a man eat man world back then, and no doubt it will come to that again as the world moves on. It makes me think and I like that in any deck.

    2. Didn't finish the thought. The rifle came to mind because we are divesting them all.

    3. What? In this day and age, get rid of all of them? You know a zombie attack is imminent. I don't want any guns but I did ask someone if I did become a zombie if they would promise to shoot me. Ha

  2. When I think about this too much I am going to be a vegetarian!

    1. It wouldn't take much to shove me in that direction, just a friend who was doing it too.

  3. As a child on a farm, we hunted dove and quail that we ate (takes a lot of food for a family of seven). I really dislike hunting as a "sport."

    1. We are farm kids too, habits and skills I value highly because we know how to be self sufficient. I don't stockpile (well, there is Robs paper goods from Costco...) because I know someone willing to kill would come along and take it.
