Americans Make America Great

Daily Draw: LLewellyn Tarot ~ 8 of Cups

We turned for home yesterday, unwillingly, but home we must, eventually.

I'm reminded by this card of the pleasure of meeting fellow  blogger Carolyn (Healing Health and Wellness on the sidebar), the elderly gentleman in Pizza Hut last night with whom I talked of childhood berrypicking and his wife's pies. And the bag of rocks in the back of the car, where did those come from? The man in line at Cracker Barrel who got scared when I told him we ate it all already...Of this gorgeous country we live in, of the miles of crops we've passed being harvested, cotton, beans, rice.  Of the silence in the Fort Davidson Park where once men froze on the ground and blood ran down the hills, and the South, where we've met nothing but kindness and courtesy. I salute backbone of America, we are what makes this country already great.

"The individual activity of one man with backbone will do more than a thousand men with a mere wishbone." ~ William J. H. Boetcker 1873-1962

  1. What a beautiful post (and photo of you two!). Those are words I sorely needed to read this morning. :)

    1. I actively campaigned to see you too, but the edge of Florida was just too far.

    1. Not finished yet, just heading west across America rather than east.

  3. It was my joy and great pleasure to meet you and your husband. Fair well on your travels, enjoy all the highways and byways. Even as you leave like your Eight of Cups you have left something of yourself behind.
