Instant Delay

Daily Draw: Minchiate Etruria ~ 3 of Cups

A gratifying situation. A lovely phrase that has been skewed into the catch-all descriptor, instant gratification. That fine distinction between want and need. I'm lumped in that group also but I'm trying to acknowledge that modern drive and find a better workaround.  Examples:

I bought three yards of fabric that doesn't work with the project I want to use it for. Because I couldn't find the perfect fabric in the shop and am too impatient to continue looking elsewhere because I hate shopping. And my stomach has been in a knot since. Stupid. Instant gratification.

On the other hand there is a little acrylic ruler I'm eager to get and use. Right now! It is at Jo-Anns and only $5.00. Why not get it? Because I'm saving that want/need for fall when I'll be at a enormous national show. Fun souvenir.  And useful. Cool.
Delayed gratification. I love to have something to look forward to.

  1. Friends, a project or purpose, and something to look forward to are the keys to contentment I've heard. :)

  2. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. :) This is true in many situations
