Daily Draw: Medieval Scapini Tarot ~ 8 of Cups

Seeking a new plan. A detachment from current path in order to break ties or formulate a unbiased opinion. Sometimes we continue to go along because going along as we have been is the easier path. But easier doesn't mean better.

I'm reminded by this card to step back and review. To focus on what isn't working, take a break from it and make some hard decisions. A path walked too long is just a rut by another name.

Daily Draw: Medieval Scapini Tarot ~ The World

The World card signifies the completion of our journey in which we started as the Fool. The many symbols represent a wholeness with the universe and who we are, the achievement of personal maturity. It also heralds the beginning of a new cycle.

For those of us on a path of personal growth this is such a wonderful card to see. It reminds us that we are making progress, that we have learned and more importantly remembered our lessons from last week and last year...and to look forward to the lesson to be learned today.

Daily Draw: Medieval Scapini Tarot ~ Ace of Cups

To paraphrase Robert Duvall in Apocalypse Now, "I love the smell of fresh ideas in the morning". The Ace of Cups runneth over with them. Representing the fullness of thought and emotion, fresh starts, nurturance and recognition of the bounty we already have.

I'm reminded that today is the first day of the rest of my life. A cliché but one well worth remembering.

Chrysanthemums vs Calla Lilies

Daily Draw: Medieval Scapini Tarot ~ 10 of Swords

I always lean my daily draw against the base of a lamp by my monitor so I can reflect on the message through the day. I've been looking at this 10 of swords for 2 hours trying to get my mind around what message it is giving me. This is the Minor sister card to the Major Death card. It always means the end or death of something in the mundane every day sense. I don't know what is ending, but I am reminded by this card that when one door closes another always opens.

This is an Italian deck and it's interesting they consider chrysanthemums as a funeral flower where I might think of Calla Lilies in that light here in the U.S. The tiny figures at the hilt of each sword are the betrayers of Ceasar. Tarot cards are such wonderful little works of art, one of the many reasons I enjoy using them. The artist here is Luigi Scapini. If you look for this deck get the edition by AGMuller printed in Switzerland. The later edition has muddy blurred images.

Daily Draw: Medieval Scapini Tarot ~ 7 of Coins

Odd this card should come up today, I was in a casino yesterday for lunch, was going to gamble but there was a long line at the cashiers booth so I bagged the idea. The artist for this deck has a wonderful sense of humor. There are 5 gamblers at this table, the man at the top is obviously a big winner and the coins beside him are a fully fruited tree and a innocent babe asleep. At the foot of the table the man on the left has his hands over his head and appears to be pounding his head on the table; the man on the right has an empty coin bag and just one coin left. The coins across the bottom are nightmares, death, and flames of hell.

Obvious to me in this card is the reminder that seldom do riches come easy and working for the sure win will get me a lot further than waiting for the random chance of the draw.

Daily Draw: Medieval Scapini Tarot ~ 4 of Swords

Whether an inner journey or a physical pilgrimage there are times in life when we have to step back and regroup, recharge, recover, and reflect. Before the Pilgrim is a bowl of water and a mandrake root. I Googled mandrake root, very interesting, many different uses.

I am reminded by this card to not make snap decisions when some reflection is in order. That simple nourishment is enough, and that our whole life is a journey. To appreciate each stage; we only get one chance at today. Tomorrow is not here and Yesterday is long gone.

Daily Draw: Medieval Scapini Tarot ~ King of Coins

Literally at the pinnacle of success, the material rewards of diligence and discipline are shown heaped around this King's feet while behind him property and crops are lush and well tended. What draws my eye today is the compass in his left hand and the Phoenix cupped in the right.

Having had reversals of fortune in my past I'm reminded by these two items that with good planning and hard work anyone can rise from the ashes as does the Phoenix. Life is much more than attainment of worldly goods but having them certainly makes the journey more pleasant.

Daily Draw: Druidcraft Tarot ~ The Sun

The accompanying book to this deck by Carr-Gomm mentions that the number 19 was held in great respect by the Druids as it is the number of years between full solar eclipses in the same celestial space.

This card is about good things as we are nearing the end of the Fool's journey. We have nothing left to hide, we are comfortable in our own skin, we have defined our purpose and chosen direction in life and achieved success and contentment.

I am reminded today that much of that comes from developing common sense, something not taught in school but in trial and error and observation of our fellow travelers. There is much good to be said for getting older. I prefer older and wiser to younger and foolish.

Daily Draw: Druidcraft Tarot ~ Ace of Pents

Aces; cards of promise, renewal, fresh starts, nice surprises in work, health, and finances. This card reminds me to keep myself grounded in reality. Sometimes wishes do come true, but we are better served to do the work ourselves, all the better to enjoy the fruits of our labors when they come.

Daily Draw: Druidcraft Tarot ~ 6 of Pents

In spite of the grasping hands and the pained look on the old gents face, to me this card is all about karma and generosity and the biblical give and ye shall receive. Having recently been on the receiving end of someones largess, this card reminds me to play it forward. I know from experience that it will always come full circle.

Note the lifeless limb over snow with 3 Pents, and the live tree with new growth and 3 Pents. Another indication of hoard what you have and it will remain lifeless, or share freely and watch it grow...

As Bad As It Gets

Daily Draw: Druidcraft Tarot ~ 10 of Swords

This is as bad as it gets with the minors, I'm warned that something is ending and probably not well. Swords are about discovery so I think it is better to be forewarned than oblivious to what will come. Our reaction to difficulties is a reflection of our emotional maturity and inner nature. I am reminded to look for the positive in everything, it can always be found.

Daily Draw: Druidcraft Tarot ~ 3 of Cups

A toast, a celebration, friendships. This evening starts the Vernal Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere, a time of growth, new beginnings, and all the wonders of nature that Spring brings.

This card reminds me that old companions are to be cherished right along with nurturing new ones. I pledge to make 3 contacts today with out-of-touch friends.

Daily Draw: DruidCraft Tarot ~ Prince of Swords

The Princes are always ready to tear into to anything, fight or defend anyone but they often seem to be ruled by enthusiasm and short of forethought. Everything about this card speaks of taking action so I am reminded today that sometimes we just have to "Do It". Quit farting around, over-thinking everything and get some action going. By standing in place we are soon left behind.

Daily Draw: Druid Craft Tarot ~ 7 of Swords

Sometimes this is referred to as the thief card. The thief of sleep came again last night and this sad-sack at the desk trying to corral his thoughts and gather his tools for the day is me. His pen won't follow his thoughts, and his tools are in disarray. I make a joke of insomnia by saying its not terminal, but I wonder.

Daily Draw: Crystal Tarot ~ Ace of Chalices

The suit of feelings, thoughts, we are celebrating our 37th anniversary. Nearly a month late but hey, grab the fun when you can, right? Marriage, short or long should always be approached as a new beginning. Present something fresh to the relationship, go somewhere or do something you've not done before, maintain the adventure. This card reminds me that my husband is central to my life. To treat him with courtesy and respect -- but add a little something new for fun.

Daily Draw: Crystal Tarot ~ The World

Also referred to as Reward by this deck artist, meaning everything, complete, harmonious. When I see this card in a spread what comes to mind is the relationship of this card to The Wheel and cycles. The World card in this case reminds me that the successful culmination of current events is a good thing, but there is always tomorrow and new events coming. Celebrate today, but tomorrow move on with new challenges and new plans, avoid becoming stagnant.

Daily Draw: Crystal Tarot ~ 9 of Pentacles

An auspicious start to my day. This particular pip card is bright warm and cheerful, almost like nine different varieties of Sunflowers. 9 Pentacles reminds that I have everything I need, wants are just that, wants, and to never take what I have for granted. Counting all my blessings...

Daily Draw: Crystal Tarot ~ Six of Wands

Victory is imminent. Certainly news that seconds what I've been thinking this month. The last 8 months have been tough and certainly it is time for things to turn around.

This card reminds me that nothing gets done until I do something...wait and see only works so long. I must set in motion the positive changes I need in my life.

Daily Draw: Crystal Tarot ~ 2 of Wands

Choices and Potentials! Decisions must be made, it's time to fish or cut bait as my big brother says. I'm not surprised this card came up today as things on several different fronts have come to a crux this week. As noted before, sometimes I rush in where the Fool fears to tread, I'm glad that hasn't been the case lately as I would surely have shot myself in the foot.

I'm reminded by this card to stop and think because we don't live in a vacuum and everyone's decisions and choices affect others.

Daily Draw: Crystal Tarot ~ Queen of Wands

Action is required of me today! The wand shows it, the Queen decrees it. The Queen of Wands also signifies a true and compassionate friend. She waits she listens she advises she helps. Today is not 'all about me', but requires my time in aid of a friend. Great! Time spent with a friend is time well spent.

Daily Draw: Crystal Tarot ~ Temperance

This card is also titled Transformation in the accompanying booklet representing how much we accept and receive. Healing is achieved thru patience, perception through calm...thus Temperance.

I have a tendency to get a wild idea, shoot off on a tangent unprepared, and then reverse myself once I realize I don't know enough to make an informed decision let alone act on the thought. Temperance reminds me to have patience which in the long run saves time and makes my decisions more balanced and productive.

Daily Draw: Fairy Tarot ~ Ace Hearts

An Ace signifies new beginnings, and the heart suit is the suit of thoughts and feelings. Perhaps this is a sign of a small change of heart about someone I've despised for years? Maybe it's time to let the anger go? After all who is it hurting? Just me, no one else. Let it go, nothing can change the past, but we can certainly influence our future for the better by going forward positive rather than negative.

Daily Draw: Fairy Tarot ~ Queen of Leaves

Leaves are the suit of discovery and this little Queen gives the impression of seeing all and knowing all. What we do with that information is the key to fulfillment. When to step in, when to step back, when to know something is finished and leave it be... Perfectionism can kill a lot of things, creativity and relationships being just two. Nothing we do will ever be perfect, and no one we love will be perfect. This card is telling me to relax, don't sweat the small stuff and I'll get a lot more from this life.

Daily Draw: Fairy Tarot ~ King of Bells

His little face reflects how my day is going, I didn't get to my daily draw until noon. I haven't finished 1/2 of what I set out to wonder the card is showing me a rather discouraged face, even the little crown bell is at 1/2 mast.

Bells are the Earth/Results suit and the King should be at the pinnacle of success, but the wonder of Tarot is that it shows life as it is. If I'd have pulled this card early in the morning like I should have I would have known what was in store and taken a different tack toward my tasks. But the fact that it is the King of Bells promises me that if I do my part my overall results will be fine indeed.

Wednesday, March 7, 2007

Daily Draw: Fairy Tarot ~ Empress

A card of compassion and creative intelligence. Reminding me we receive what we give in life; to be charitable with my abundance, and maintain a good balance between practical pursuits and play-time.

The sword, hawk and stern expression remind me to be ruthless with what isn't working. Mistakes are fine to learn from but making the same ones over and over again doom us to failure.

Daily Draw: Fairy Tarot ~ 10 Acorns

Acorns are a vital part of Fairy life, from stocking the larder to furniture. Acorns are the suit of action and to draw the 10, means today I must focus on rainy day preparations rather than instant gratification. The beetle signifies one of many roadblocks to be worked around or outsmarted. Or...according to the book it is a ladybug, a signal of good luck. Either way, I am nearing completion of a goal which is always a good thing.

Drawing a Daily Tarot Card

A painless way to become more familiar with my tarot cards. One draw in the morning to guide me in addressing the day at hand.

From the Fairy Tarot ~ Card XX Judgement

A pudgy red headed angel fairy lets loose a hoot loud enough to waken those buried below. The landscape is fallow, even blasted. A reminder, when I set myself above others by judging them I gift myself with a heart much like this landscape.
