Daily Draw: Russian Tarot of St. Petersburg ~ 6 of Coins

I'm reading a book by David Dunn called Try Giving Yourself Away which looks at giving beyond donation centers and church. It looks at everyday giving of yourself to your neighbors, community, and family. Everywhere we go we have golden opportunities to walk the walk and be of help to someone. Noting excellent service of a clerk to their manager, picking up a shut in neighbor's groceries, telling a stranger they look nice, all the little things that we don't normally take note of doing but which are so important in a civil society. Giving of ourselves routinely has lost favor...it isn't tax deductible and if you point out your good works you've also lost credibility and points in the Good Book.

But a civil society depends on these spontaneous bursts of kindness and thoughtfulness. If we become stingy with ourselves our society will certainly reflect that as will an unmeasurable part of the richness of our personal lives.
I'm reminded by this card if I see an opportunity to brighten someones day, do it, don't just think about it.

"Strange is our situation here upon earth. Each of us comes for a short visit not knowing why. From the standpoint of daily life there is one thing we do know: That we are here for the sake of others, for the countless unknown souls with whose fate we are connected. My inner and outer life is built upon the labors of people, both living and dead, and how earnestly I must exert myself in order to give in return as much as I have received." ~ Albert Einstein 1879-1955
