Country Tools

Daily Draw: Tarot of the Master ~ 8 of Batons

The Wands or Batons of this deck are lovingly illustrated, depicting working tools and includes farming tools as the tool of an artisan.

I'm reminded by this card as we return late in the day from our own farm that without the correct tools our job would be incredibly difficult. From hoes to hammers to harness each is designed with a specific use in mind and performs beautifully as designed. I'm very grateful for those tools as we enter the season of harvest where the fruits of our labors are the reward.

"Man is a tool-using Animal.... Nowhere do you find him without tools; without tools he is nothing, with tools he is all." ~ Thomas Carlyle 1795-1881

Lo Scarabeo again provides our deck of the week, a reproduction of the 1893 I Naibi di Giovanni Vacchetta or Vachetta Tarot. Re-colored by Michela Gaudenzi, published 2002. Distributed in North America by Llewellyn Publishing.
