Hatchling

Daily Draw: Bosch Tarot ~ 5 of Wands

Me making sense of Bosch is like running uphill backward, but I'm willing to give it the tarot twist. My first impression of this card is someone velnerable who is on the prod, wants to be sure no one sneaks up on him. But he has left the whole rear side undefended, so perhaps a better interpretation would be that those bristly clubs are an ancient loofah sponge/hair shirt sort of tool and the figure is scrubbing himself clean figuratively. The hatching egg lends itself to that idea also.

I'm reminded by this card that every single day is an opportunity for a fresh clean start. Was I a better person yesterday than the day before? I think so. Will I do the same today? I hope so, I'm certainly going to put effort into it. Mostly the key is being mindful that I want to be a better person because it is much easier to not make the effort and let lazy mean thoughtless habits prevail.

"Put your heart, mind, intellect and soul even to your smallest acts. This is the secret of success." ~ Swami Sivananda 1883-1963

The Bosch Tarot (now out of print) was published in 2000 by Lo Scarabeo, based on 16th century art and times of Hieronymus Bosch.
