Journeyman and Apprentice

Daily Draw: Grail Tarot, Templar Vision ~ 8 of Vessels

I choose to continue another week with the Grail because of the preponderance of cups or vessels that have come up. And here is another one. I'm getting concerned I'm missing the real message. Or that I'm so worried about the tree I'm drowning in the forest. I think these cards relate to my father-in-law and I, we have an unusual and late-in-life-coming mutually beneficial relationship. I'm there to make his life easier but each visit I learn a valuable lesson. He will be 91 this coming April and some real health issues are making their appearance.

I'm reminded by this card that there would be no apprentice without the journeyman but the reverse is true too. Without apprentices many incredible skills have been lost to the sands of time. I am where I am because I also have journeyman skills my father-in-law needs, I pray I will be allowed to use them.

"The joy of learning is as indispensable in study as breathing is in running. Where it is lacking there are no real students, but only poor caricatures of apprentices who, at the end of their apprenticeship, have learned nothing." ~ Simone Weil 1909-1943
