Daily Draw: Sacred Sites Tarot ~ Queen of Swords
The world is full of sacred trees, and even contains sacred forests. Here the queen of thought and intellect is backed by the Walnut Tree of Benevento Italy which first appears in historical texts in the 1420's. This image rather brings to mind the far more recent 1950's Gardenerian use.
I'm reminded by this Queen and her setting that the word sacred can be charged with controversy and acrimony right along with awe and grace. It can mean a specific place of worship, often changing to whom or to what over the known millininas as spiritual tastes and trends evolve, or it can be an artifact or person or a date. I like all trees regardless of their ilk or affiliation....a tree is a tree is a tree at its roots.
"The place with its dread sanctity was wont to awe the frightened rustics;
even then they trembled at its wood and at its rock." Virgil 70 BC-19 BC The Aeneid
