Get On With It

Daily Draw: Mythic Tarot ~ 6 of Coins

Daedalus is being presented with patronage by King Minos of Crete, just about the best thing that could happen for an artist. But as myths circuitously go, eventually Minos had Daedalus imprisoned so he couldn't tell anyone how to get out of the labyrinth he'd designed and built to hold Minos' wife's son the Minotaur. While imprisoned he designed wings for himself and his son Icarus. They were able to free themselves but Icarus flew too close to the sun which melted the wax on the wings, he fell into the sea and drowned.

The point, of what should be a happy card, is we may have the time, funds, and ability to do something really clever, but what will be the consequences? Is the fair risk of something bad occurring as a direct result, worth the effort of what could be good?  I'm reminded by this card and this morning's research this is a conundrum that goes back to ancient times and into mythology. In most cases we simply can't know. So why stand frozen in the headlights, let's get on with it.

"Very few beings really seek knowledge in this world. On the contrary, they try to wring from the unknown the answers they have already shaped in their own minds. To really ask is to open the door to the whirlwind. The answer may annihilate the question and the questioner." ~ Anne Rice 1941-  The Vampire Lestat

  1. Although sometimes difficult, keep on going is often the best decision.

  2. I try to take the long view of things, but sometimes it's just to foggy to see anything.
