Value Of Companions

Daily Draw: Ship Of Fools Tarot ~ 2 of Cups

Blessing the Animals was begun by St. Francis Assisi around 1210-15. Catholic services now celebrate the occasion on October 4, Assisi's birthday. Many synagogues also celebrate animal companions and emancipation the seventh day of Passover. The original 1494 image was based on mocking people who brought animals to church. There is always a crabbypants somewhere.

I'm reminded by this card I don't do religion, but try to do Green. Wouldn't Assisi's celebration be one of the first steps to Green? Although I suppose our most primitive ancestors also practiced Green in a whole life way, it was key to survival. 2 of Cups to our continued acknowledgement of nature and the value of companions.

"If it were not for the company of fools, a witty man would often be greatly at a loss." ~ Francois de la Rochefoucauld 1613-1689

The deck this week is The Ship of Fools Tarot by Brian Williams (1958-2002) published by Llewellyn Worldwide. The cards are based on the 1494 German book Narrenschiff or The Ship of Fools, written by Sebastian Brant.

  1. I think our Jofee doesn't need to be blessed but is blessing enough himself :)

  2. We only tend to bless what we care about. Which would explain why so many animals are going extinct and why there's global warming...
