Numero Uno

 5¢ Tarot ~ 2 of Coins/Buttons

Continually assess and adjust. I had a job once where trying to keep everyone happy was like trying to put socks on an octopus. Couldn't be done. Nine huge egos, all looking out for number one. I made it six months, then I had to look out for my own Numero Uno. Throwing up every day before work is no way to live life.

I'm reminded by this card to be flexible, and keep assessing. And that buttons are one of my touchstones, I have gallons of them, sorted by color. There is a whole story there... beginning with old fashioned slow talk radio bingo. And turtle doves. And Alaska. Lovely.

  1. There is being flexible and accommodating and then there's being a doormat. Glad you left that job!

  2. Wonder why buttons have always fascinated me, I have gallons also. Have to do a lot of assessing these days and it isn’t for me!

    1. I already had a butter tub of black ones, but that coffee can of white ones that arrived from you really kickstarted me :)

  3. I have been thinking about your "throwing up" statement and realized I am or was in the same place with the sleeplessness nights, so I quit the supplemental re job a second time earlier this morning after my post.

    1. Good for you. We come from a time when quitting a job was tantamount to failure, and references were everything, and employers could and did say anything they wanted to. Fortunately that has changed. Something better will come along, you have many skills in many areas. I used to have a side line when I was in real estate writing the blurb titles for the newspaper ads :)
